While there are no absolutes in how or where to hang art, there are some general rules that can help you ensure your pieces are placed for optimal viewing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>First, get an idea of how you will place your art,<\/strong> whether you\u2019re hanging a single piece or a small group \u2013 or an entire gallery wall. Plan it out with paper cutouts laid out on a large floor space, or tack cutouts to the wall where you\u2019re planning to hang your art.<a href=\"https:\/\/franchiseconceptsinc.com\/tgfu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/08\/how\u2011to\u2011hang\u2011art\u2011work-resized.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2009 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/franchiseconceptsinc.com\/tgfu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/08\/how\u2011to\u2011hang\u2011art\u2011work-resized-250x167.jpg\" alt=\"art, hanging art\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Measure, Measure, Measure.<\/strong> The general height and placement recommendation is to set the top of your lowest piece at 58 inches above the floor. If you add other artwork, leave two inches (or more, depending on the look you\u2019re going for, just be consistent) around each frame on all sides. If there\u2019s furniture against the wall you\u2019re designing (say a lower sofa or buffet table), try placing the bottom of the lowest picture 6 to 8 inches above the top of the piece of furniture. Keep in mind that these are general recommendations \u2013 be sure to create your layout based on what\u2019s best for YOU!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Safety First \u2013 and Last!<\/strong> Finally, be sure that you use strong and secure hardware to hang your framed items.
